The EUPL award and its contribution to knowledge of European literature and the promotion of new authors
The European Union Prize for Literature, created in 2009 to highlight the work of emerging authors across Europe, is a token of recognition that makes outstanding literary works visible to publishers and contributes to the diversity of the European book market. With almost 1,400 translations of the works into 48 languages, the prize continues to open doors for the winning authors and internationalise their careers. During this session, Gabriela Ruivo (EUPL 2024, Portugal) will talk about her EUPL-nominated book titled Lei da Gravidade (The Law of Gravity, Porto Editora, 2023), the impact the EUPL has had on her career and her book and the importance of making books “travel” and reach new readers for European authors. The debate will be followed by a reading of Lei da Gravidade.
